World Builder — Original
Pen, ink, and watercolor on paper — Aurora Collection
Original, one of a kind · Signed by the artist
Machinery and matter, drawn from the same hand.
In the upper left, two dense textured spheres anchor the composition — rendered in tight angular linework, divided by clean curved bands and a string of solid black orbs, like planets caught mid-orbit. Below and to the right, that same mechanical precision continues: nested arcs, dotted rails, striped bars, and small geometric circles assembled like the inner workings of some impossible instrument. Every line is measured. Every form has a place.
Then, breaking through the structure, watercolor erupts. Four bursts of blue, violet, and teal — applied with the same unrepeatable, gravity-driven technique used throughout the Aurora collection — scatter across the page like debris thrown from impact, or stars being born. The color refuses the order of the ink around it, pulling the eye outward into open, chaotic space.
World Builder holds two opposing instincts at once: the architect's need to construct, and the artist's need to let go. Drawn with Pigma Micron pen and ink and brought to life with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor, this piece is a study in what happens when control and chance share the same page.
