Two branching forms reach across the page toward each other, never quite touching.

Evolution is built from movement — sweeping black ribbons that curl and fork like roots, or veins, or something still growing. Threaded through them is red, applied with the same precision as the black, marking out triangles, hexagons, stripes, and dotted patterns that pulse along the branching structure like signal flowing through a circuit. Around the edges, clusters of geometric shapes and dense textural patches sit independently — fragments of an idea not yet absorbed into the main current.

There is a sense of biology here, and also of architecture. Something organic, growing according to its own logic, built with the discipline of fine liner pen and ink where no mark can be undone — a discipline that, across this piece alone, took nearly 60 hours to complete.

This piece was awarded the Bronze Ribbon at the Nampa Festival of the Arts Juried Show in 2018 — one of several distinctions earned by the artist at this respected regional exhibition, where work is selected and judged by a panel of professional jurors.
