Dreamcatcher — Original

Pen, ink, and watercolor on paper — Aurora Collection

Original, one of a kind · Signed by the artist

This piece begins in two completely different worlds and refuses to let them meet.

In the upper left, a circle — or the suggestion of one — filled entirely with thousands of precise fine liner marks, each one a tiny triangle or crosshatch, building a dense field of controlled black and white linework that took hours of patient, deliberate drawing to complete. It is meticulous. Exacting. Still.

Then color explodes from underneath it.

The watercolor in Dreamcatcher wasn't painted. It was forced — puddles of Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor, some of the most richly pigmented watercolor available, blasted outward with an air compressor. The result is something no brush could produce: thousands of individual color filaments radiating outward like feathers, like light refracting, like something dreamed rather than drawn. Purples, reds, greens, yellows, and pinks erupt and layer across the warm paper surface in a way that is completely unrepeatable.

No two blasts of an air compressor ever produce the same result. This exact composition of color and movement exists once and only once.

The ink circle holds its ground above the chaos. The color refuses to be contained beneath it. The tension between the two is the piece.
